ANOS Inc. has begun accepting pre-orders for NOT A SCHOOL, an education service that uses AI to support learning for junior high school entrance exam mathematics.
With NOT A SCHOOL, children simply photograph a math problem they don’t understand on a smartphone. AI reads the problem and explains it step by step using methods actually used in entrance exam prep — such as segment diagrams, area diagrams, and travel diagrams.
Rather than relying on equations, the service aims for a learning experience where students understand “why” through diagrams and ways of thinking.
It does more than present answers: it checks understanding during explanations, digs deeper into unclear parts as needed, and helps students go from “I get it” to “I can solve it myself” the same day through related practice problems that use the same approach.
The first version plans to cover about 20 units focused on specialty arithmetic for grades 4–6 entrance exam math — including tsurukame, traveler, concentration, sum-and-difference, work, and counting problems. Coverage will expand over time to plane and solid geometry as well.
Pre-orders by email are now open on the official NOT A SCHOOL website. Those who pre-order can use the service free for the first three months after launch. There is no charge at the time of pre-order.
